About the Faculty

Page Content

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. According to the latest Time Higher Education ratings, this is one of the best faculties at any South African university to study engineering. At TUT, we aim to produce future-ready graduates through employing innovative academic and research practises that are of international standard.

We offer a portfolio of career-focused programmes that enjoy international recognition. The Faculty comprises eight departments that are based at the Pretoria Campus and one at the eMalahleni Campus. Our five Centers of Excellence, Institutes, Technology Stations and Incubators (CITSIs) are instrumental in bridging the gap between academics, industry and communities. The Technology Stations, supported by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), contribute significantly to the innovation agenda, particularly in support of communities around Tshwane.

With the goal of becoming a digitally advanced University, TUT produces well-rounded and socially responsible graduates, attuned to the needs of the industry and the economy in an environment conducive to teaching and learning, using the latest technology. Being a research and innovation hub, we are responsive to the challenges of the country and continent. Our Faculty generates, integrates and applies knowledge to stimulate socio-economic development by partnering with communities and industries in sustainable development projects.
